that’s a 5 head.

There’s a joke about people with large foreheads. “That’s not a forehead…that’s a FIVE HEAD!”

So yeah, I’m wondering if it’s time for a talk with Chris (he made this desktop of me…) Cause I thought I still had enough hair to count as a forehead. Maybe that’s why I look so angry.

burgerking = satisfaction?

Posted by Matt on Dec 6, 2005 in design, music

Ok, so by now you might have seen the new Burger King commercial, with the techno ‘uhmpin’ (that’s a long U in uhmpin’) soundtrack.

The funny thing is, this isn’t the first ‘advertisement’ I’ve seen this set to– check this out

So I remember seeing this about a year, or maybe more, ago. (Thanks chris and yuko!)

First question, does Burger King corporate know about the other tittie ad video? Cause you know that their ad agency sure as hell does. No doubt in my mind that the ad agency guys saw this a little while back and said “….HEY! This is f-ing awesome! Let’s pitch that song as the soundtrack to the next commercial!’

Second question, did the ad agency pick the song for it’s ‘internet cred’, knowing people would blog about it because of the soundtrack connection, essentially advertising Burger King for free?

You know what grinds my gears?

It tells you that your system isn’t properly setup, and that it can ‘FIX’ this for you.

Fix.

My system.

Becasuse it isn’t properly setup.

What they really are saying is ‘hey, you know how you have you gear setup to do things in certain ways? Well ya’ see, it’s kinda going agains the grain for us, because you aren’t using our programs for everything you do…and well, how are we supposed to make any money if you don’t become completely reliant on us?’

Case in point? Adobe Acrobat ‘Pro’ for the Mac. This app allows you to author PDFs and that’s cool. But what’s not cool is that it tries to fool you into thinking that your gear is messed up the first time you start it up.

free association for dummies…

Posted by Matt on Sep 5, 2005 in design, digg = content

In my second year of college I transferred to my second (of 3) schools, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. It was there that I met Joe Landry a teacher of graphic design, who championed the idea of free association as a design tool…basically the idea of letting your mind wander from one word to another freely in order to come up with new and interesting concepts for your design direction.

This website, can help start that process if your a little rusty, or just want some outside help.
